Presented by Live Art Benalla, and Goulburn And North East Arts Alliance (GANEAA)
MURAL MUSIC is an annual, FREE afternoon of local music at Benalla’s iconic Ceramic Mural. First presented in 2022, this event was conceived to give local artists and performers the opportunity to share their work with the community, providing artistic experiences and entertainment for the entire family. The event is also about collaboration with local, regional artists, organisations and presenters; and features free art activities for children and families.
In 2022, we were joined by:
Families could gather on the lawn by Lake Benalla and enjoy music, good food and drinks. Children participated in free art activities supported by Benalla Art Gallery and the RACV Drawing Wall and a clay tile making activity lead by local artist Katrina Neil from Broken River Potters.
MURAL MUSIC will return in 2023 on Saturday 21 October, from 2-6pm. It's going to be another great afternoon of entertainment, food and art!
The line-up includes:
Celtic tunes by local musicians Inisheer
Energetic originals and covers by the Intensity Duo
Modern jazz and soul by Emma Christie
Folk, pop and country fusion by Dallas Alice Duo and
Pop, funk and jazz dance party vibes by The High Street Shufflers
This year at MURAL MUSIC we will also celebrate Children's Week by hosting two free art activities for children and their families that will engage the senses, capture the imagination, and encourage creative expression.
This year’s theme is ‘Children have the right to relax, play and take part in activities they enjoy’.
To celebrate this theme, children and families can participate in 'Nature Play - Ephemeral Mandalas' and 'Painting Activities' on the lawn lakeside.
MURAL MUSIC is supported by the Benalla Rural City Council via the Community Grants Program, Tomorrow Today Foundation, and Victorian Government Department of Education.
